How can we figure out what makes a good life? How do we know if we’re making the right choices for our lives, both short-term and long-term? In this post, we’ll examine the benefits of finding your life purpose, identifying your strengths and weaknesses, and understanding the importance of self-development over time.
If you had to write down all the things that make up a good life, what would they be? Health, happiness, and peace of mind are probably the top three answers that come to mind. But once you start thinking about it more, tons of other things can make up the good life, too.
Depending on your priorities and what you value most in life, there are many different ways to create your ideal version of the good life.
Life is a combination of happiness and sorrows, victories and defeats, achievements and losses. It can never be stagnant. At one moment you feel like you are in the seventh sky and at the other moment, you find extra hopelessness around you.
At one moment you feel you have achieved everything and at the other moment, you feel you have nothing. All of us want to lead a “good life” but we exactly don’t know the meaning of the word “Good”. It is a vague word.
We all have our own definition of the word “Good”.
It may sound weird but it is true. We all want to live a happy and good life but we don’t know what makes a good life? and about the things to be thankful for which we always take for granted. Here are some ways by which you can make you can make your life a good and contented one.Let’s take a look at some elements of the good life that may surprise you.
1) Just smile
Yes, please just smile:-). We really need to learn how to smile from the heart. A smile can act as an antidepressant. This releases endorphins in your brain that improve your mood. It may sound like a small thing but really it truly matters.
Start your day with a smile and express gratitude for everything you have. It will give you a fresh start. On phone calls, you can also detect smiles from your loved ones. If someone speaks with a smile, you can feel that no matter if you can see them or not.
2) Find the things to be thankful for
In life, we have so many blessings but we don’t consider them as blessings. We just take them for granted. We consider them blessings after losing them. There are a lot of things to be thankful for.
So, be grateful for everything in life. If you start writing down about the things which you have and the things which you don’t have and you will find out that you have more blessings than you think. So, be thankful for what you got.
3) Enjoy little moments of life
Life is all about enjoying every moment because tomorrow is not guaranteed. Getting everything you want will not make you happy, since happiness is enjoying the current moments of your life.
Like, Seeing children running to school, celebrating your pet’s birthday, giving chocolate to your grandpa, enjoying a walk in the rain, getting up early to enjoy the clear skies, and many others. If you are able to enjoy the simple pleasures of life, congratulations, you are a good successful person.
4) Bear good patience
Good things take time and while waiting for good things to happen we need to learn the art of having patience. This is where we need to master “Good” patience, which means not becoming discouraged all the time and not feeling hopeless.
When you don’t see immediate results, just be patient with yourself and remind yourself that success will come when the time is right. If you don’t see immediate results, then just be patient, do your best and take the right steps to achieve your goals.
5) Success can not be measured with money
How do you measure success? Keep in mind that success has nothing to do with money. Your success is not measured by how much money you earn, but by how peaceful your mind is. Material wealth is necessary, but so is non-material wealth.
Some believe that wealth and prestige are what makes a good life? while others believe it’s altruism and virtue. As a psychologist, Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi says, Good lives are about more than pleasure or money; they have to do with self-realization and growth. But what does it mean to realize oneself? Well, for one thing, it means knowing who you are and what you want—and then pursuing that.
You just can’t be happy by spending most of your time making money. If you don’t have time for yourself and for your loved ones then even after getting all the material success you will have no one to celebrate with. Just maintain a healthy balance between your professional and personal life and you will notice a huge happy transformation in your life.
In order to make sense of your world, you need to know yourself. This is crucial because if you don’t understand who you are and what makes you tick, it’s impossible to stay on task or motivated or creative.
It’s not just about smiling; it’s about understanding what makes you smile. The more self-aware you become, the better your ability to make decisions about your time (and money). Self-awareness is crucial to success.
A self-aware person is conscious of his choices and mindful of his emotions; he knows who he is and can see all kinds of perspectives.
7) Appreciation for what you have
Like most of us, you likely have more than what you need. So stop for a moment to appreciate what you have and be thankful for it. If nothing else, start by focusing on your health. You might take it for granted, but being healthy is one of the most valuable things in our lives.
Make someone’s day better by doing something nice for them: It’s not about giving because you feel obligated, and it’s about showing appreciation for what you have and making someone else’s day brighter.
Be grateful: Gratitude goes hand-in-hand with appreciation, so learn how to be grateful if you want to make a good life. Gratitude doesn’t just help others; it helps us too—it can improve relationships with friends and family members as well as help boost happiness levels.
8) A sense of purpose
To make sure you’re finding your purpose, be patient with yourself. It will take time and effort for many people to figure out what they want to do with their lives. So be patient and don’t give up on yourself too quickly – at least not until you truly have exhausted all options.
Patience is key when searching for meaning in life; there are plenty of ways to find your calling, so don’t force anything before it happens naturally.
The answer will usually come when you least expect it. The more open-minded you are, the easier it will be to understand your true calling.
Suppose you’re constantly looking for answers and refusing to accept any outcome other than one specific goal or dream. In that case, chances are you won’t find happiness because deep down inside, you already know that it won’t make you happy. And if something doesn’t make us happy, then why bother doing it? We need to feel fulfilled to live our best lives possible.
9) Being mindful of the choices you make
When trying to determine what makes a good life, it’s essential to consider how your decisions will shape your future. How you measure success is entirely up to you, but make sure you think about each of your choices as they come up and consider how each one might impact not only now but years down the road.
Our advice is to be mindful of every choice you make; otherwise, it will be difficult to build an authentic, meaningful life when self-gratification is your primary motivation. An easy way to stay mindful of your choices is simply by asking yourself: Will I regret doing this in 20 years? If yes, then maybe don’t do it.
